» Christianity Today: Stryper merchandise on the big screen!
Fun diversionary blog post for the day. This one originates from the notice of a Stryper t-shirt in a movie trailer for Whip It! (which looks really good, fwiw). I'd be willing to bet that the blog post is an enjoyable enough read for any Christian music fan of the 80s or 90s, Obviously, however, I'll disagree with the view taken of Stryper expressed in the excerpt from the movie's book form.
In related news, I've gotten a preview listen of the new Stryper CD and this has me even more amped up for their November concert here in town. Some of the songs are as strong as anything they released in the 80s and I genuinely think that if they had released this in place of the 1990 release, "Against the Law", they probably wouldn't have taken the step back they did with that release. The tunes are available on July 21. I heartily recommend "I Believe," "The Plan," "Alive," and the reworked "My Love (I'll Always Show)" to anyone that likes their music a little crunchy in the morning.
