The Week In Music

A few odd musical notes for the day ...

1. Chris Tomlin & Israel Houghton hit the Berry Center tonight. It should be a blast. I'll be skipping this one, for better or worse. Still a little sick, not entirely motivated to head up to the NW part of town (ie - what feels like going halfway to Austin), and I caught the last tour Chris Tomlin ran through town. It ought to be great, though. The preview of any new Israel Houghton tunes is somewhat tempting me.

2. The seemingly annual Cruse Family Reunion event in Fort Bend County is this Sunday. This one always tempts me and Sunday will be no different. Come to think of it, I should be recovering right around Sunday ....

3. This blog really makes me wish I was born again about 4 years earlier than I was. Lots of demo listings from bands that were on the scene in the 80s and 90s, including a lot from my own preferred genre. For better and worse, there's no download links available for some of the rarest Christian music of that era. Google is suddenly my friend, once again.

4. Christianity Today gives a decent overview of the new CompassionArt CD. I didn't see the CD in the Lakewood bookstore last I checked (two weeks ago). So I downloaded the whole thing online. What's it going to take to hear "You Have Shown Us" on the Lakewood stage? Preferably with Hodge and/or Camey up front hitting some of those nice harmonic moments in the song. Just an idea for the suggestion box ;-)

Bare with the temporary video-less blogging for a while. The work PC is getting replaced, so you're just going to have to use your imagination for a while.
