Monday Video: Lakewood Kids "All Over the World"

A little late, but never fear ... video is here. In this case, it's the Kid's Choir (I presume) performing "All Over the World" by The Sonflowerz (great CD, btw)

Hi Greg.

I haven't posted in a while. But, have been watching, of course. :)

The kids always make me proud. Holly and the Children's Music Ministry volunteers are doing an awesome job planting the seed that God is obviously watering!!

I'll delineate the children's music ministry structure (based on what I know as the parent of two members) just because I know you like to know who is singing. And since we are beginning to see the children more, I thought I'd offer the distinction. BTW, you'll notice its structure is quite similar to the adult choir.

This past Sunday the younger kids singing were all members of the KidsLife Singers/Children's Choir Ensemble and John and Christina (the leads) are L7ers/Youth Choir. The Children's Choir is an elementary level school-year choir (children through 5th grade, Sept - June). Whenever you see a BIG group of kids singing during the academic school year, it's the children's choir (eg. "My Number One" several months ago). When you see a smaller number (as in "All Over the World", it's the Children's Choir ensemble. Ensemble members commit to extra rehearsals, special performances, sing year round, and have a weekly commitment to minister on the KidsLife praise and worship team during their Sat. or Sun. worship assignment.

The Youth Choir is middle/high school age. We will be seeing them sing again this upcoming weekend. And, if I am not mistaken, we (the old folk in the adult choir) get to back them up. Of course they don't need us. We just get to have fun every now and then. The last time the Youth Choir sang in the main sanctuary, I think they sang Israel and New Breed's "Another Level". They are a-w-e-s-o-m-e. The youth choir members have the wonderful distinction of both helping lead worship in the KidsLife and L7 weekend services AND singing with the adult choir on special occassions.

AND, to top it all off, the children's music ministry has been ministering to others beyond the Lakewood walls for two years plus! Mother Dodie invites them to be the special musical guests at her prayer services at Memorial Hermann. They have ministered at the Star of Hope on numerous occassions. They have recorded a half-hour Day Star Christmas program the past two years. I'm sure I've forgotten something.

These are truly an amazing bunch of God's Children. I count it a blessing every time they are invited to minister in the main sanctuary. The youth in Lakewood's Music Ministry are blessed beyond measure and they are truly a blessing to all.

Sorry if this post dragged on. But I really think the youth deserve to be acknowledged for all they do at their varying levels of development.

UPDATE/Ommision:

I forgot to say that John is actually an L7 P&W leader. He is not in middle or high school, but rather a college student. That point was forgotten. Don't want to give incorrect information about John.

Another amazing point I forgot to mention is that the P&W team in the KidsLife ministry is composed of Adults (p&w veterans like Carrie Hodge, Adult Choir Ensemble and Regular Choir Members), L7 and Youth Choir Members, and Elementary Choir Ensemble Members). High energy, to say the least. And, if I'm not mistaken, I once spotted Steve Crawford rehearsing with the L7 group.

Sorry for the dual post.

Wow ... thanks for the updates, Angela. I don't think there's a problem with space, so no fear in fleshing out the detail in the overview ;-)

I only wished I was up there with them singing HIS praises.
GOD is at work truly all over the world and in every generation.
