Lakewood 2007 Financial Summary

From the latest church bulletin comes this Financial Summary of Lakewood Church on the front page ...

2007 was one of Lakewood Church's best years ever! Because of your generosity and faithful support our ministry continues to impact millions of people around the world. Our commitment to the Lord and you is to be good stewards of the resources entrusted to us. For over fort-eight years we have operated this ministry with the utmost integrity. We are blessed with an exceptional management team of experienced business professionals. We rely not only on their good judgment, but also on outside consultants who are experts in their field. Whether purchasing snacks for Kidslife or negotiating multi-million dollar contracts, every purchase is carefully budgeted, reviewed, and managed. Each year the ministry's finances are audited by Harper & Pearson Company, P.C., and independent, regional accounting firm experienced in the specific requirements of not-for-profit organizations.

Total income in 2007 was approximately $70 million dollars. Nearly $43 million dollars was contributed by Lakewood Church's local congregation and $27 million dollars was raised outside Lakewood's weekly service offerings through our national outreach efforts. These funds came in the form of donations and product sales through the mail, the internet, ministry events, and television call centers. This support was used for conducting the weekly worship services, children and youth programs, administration and operation of the facility, and finding of Lakewood's more than 20 local ministries as well as our international outreach with takes the Good News of Jesus Christ to over 100 nations. Approximately $30 million was expended for missions including television airtime, free podcasts, streaming internet video, daily emails, direct mail, product development, and the production and management of these services. Also, in 2007, we were able to reduce the construction debt for the new worship facility an additional $2.5 million dollars, leaving a balance of $45.5 million.

Our worship events held in cities around the country are self-supporting. The costs associated with these tours, including auditorium rental, sound, lighting and travel expenses are covered through ticket sales, product sales, and donations received at the events.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation for all your prayers and support this past year. As we look forward to celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2008, we believe 2008 and future years will continue to be your best ever as together we share the unconditional love of Jesus with the world.
