I think I've stumbled onto a great way to spend a lazy Sunday. In the process of pushing myself to catch up on some reading, it seems the challenge has really been to just slow down the work pace a bit, which creeps into personal time all too easily. My gimmick for this past day was to load up the entire "Revolting Beauty" series by Greg Boyd. Working a little deejay magic, I put a song or two between each sermon. Nearly seven hours later, I feel more than a little renourished.
Of course, part of me still feels like I've done absolutely nothing at a time when there's no shortage of things to do. I'm fighting that, though.
One other nice find I can pass on. A freebie, no less. In reading "Parting the Waters," my curiosity is piqued by a new name for me, but one that was influential in the education of Martin Luther King, Jr. - Walter Rauschenbusch. A search on Google Books led to a pleasant discovery that three of his books are apparently public domain, meaning you can download a PDF of the entire book. Like I need more to read! But just in case:
» Christianity and the Social Crisis (1907)
» Christianizing the Social Order (1912)
» A Theology for the Social Gospel (1917)
Happy reading.
