Had this one set aside for the longest time. I still don't fully relate to the heavier music that's out there these days, but this one's something of a throwback to the power ballads of my own days. And what's up with those kids flashing the Dio devil horn signs? Did that somehow get appropriated into Christian music without someone telling me? Ah well, enjoy the music and grab your cell phone to do the old lighter-in-stadium routine if the spirit moves you.

I saw Skillet the last time they were here at a church in Humble. They are awesome! Rockin out for Jesus is rad!!!!!!! I think we should rename the "devil horns." "Rock on horns?!" yeah.... I dunno.
Check out the band Red. http://www.myspace.com/dropofred The whole cd is amazing but "Pieces" had me in tears the first couple of times I heard it.
On the much much heavier side, definetly METAL, is Demon Hunter. Their new cd Storm the Gates of Hell came out yesterday. http://www.myspace.com/demonhunter I haven't decided if I'm going to pick that one up or not, it might be a little too much for me in "my old age".
On a Lakewood note, Israel will be with us this weekend!!! It seems like it's been forever since he's been home. Michael is doing the special, "Song of Hope," this weekend backed up by Israel and the choir.
Ok. Have to get Red. The guitar riffs are nuts, though not as complex as This Beautiful Republic's "Going Under." My kinda stuff either way. Still young at heart. Will be rocking into the golden years!!! Will check out Demon Hunter later this eve ... I don't think my boss will mind all the head bangin! (It makes him wonder if it's Christian music ... yeah, wanna listen!).
Note to self for home: get headphones, designate one room to rock/hang guitars and oh yeah, buy soundproofing material.
Hmmm ... may need to seek help ... Tears for Fears, Rachmaninoff and Demon Hunter.
I picked up the Demon Hunter CD this evening at Lemstone. I went to pick up Toby Mac Portable Sounds for my friend's b-day and saw the new Demon Hunter cd staring me in the face. I was surprised to see it there since it is so "heavy" and not KSBJ friendly at all, I'm not sure Kent Matthews would even try it on Light Force. (Note to self, email him and ask him). I've only had a chance to listen to the first 3 songs but I must admit, I like it. I'm going to have to get another copy of it for a doc my mom works with. She says that he's into "screamers" (as she puts it) and he is always saying something sarcastic about Lakewood/Pastor Joel or "religion" in general. Maybe Demon Hunter will make him slow his roll and see the light.
