Well, I managed to talk myself out of my reading plan for the month. Good excuse, though. There's apparently a discount on one of the great trilogy of modern history books running on Amazon. Taylor Branch has three books in his "America in the King Years" that track the civil rights movement from it's infancy to it's descent. All three books for under $20. And if you're unfamiliar with Branch's work, let's just say it's quite thorough. All in all, nearly 3000 pages to sift through. I still have to pick a cheap read to get the free shipping, though.
As no small coincidence, I figure the books ought to serve as ample background to the reading list that I'll be on at the turn of the year.
