This weekend's special: Robbie Seay's "Song of Hope" as performed by our very own Choir Director, Michael Mellett.
I've been looking for an excuse to look into Robbie Seay's music ever since it was recommended in Donald Miller's book, Blue Like Jazz. Michael's performance is reason enough to pick back up on that quest.
On an added note, it was great to spend some quality time in the sanctuary listening to Michael Hodge warm up on the guitar melody that drives this song. It's catchy enough on it's own, but I think Michael tried various configurations of sound effects that made it more than a little enjoyable.
If you want an added bonus, there's two YouTube clips out there worth watching that relate to this. This one is another cover effort by the youth band at LifeChurch.tv. If you're an RSS jockey like me, I highly recommend adding the ir OKC Worship feed to your podcast subscriptions. They've obviously got lots to choose from, though.
The other video of note is one with the Robbie Seay Band themselves doing a little intro video for the song. You really only get a snippet of their version of the song in there, but it's still a good way to kill a minute or so.
