Not even optional this week. Since we were treated to nothing less than Cindy Cruse Ratcliff during the offering, I believe there's some form of obligation to show this off to the world.
I've written before that when archaeologists dig through the rubble of Old Houston and report their findings to New Houston above ground, they'll report trace echos - thousands of years old - of Cindy's voice at Lakewood. The irony is that it's been what seems like a long time since we've gotten this sort of showcase by Cindy without a massive supporting cast backing up on vocals - be it an ensemble, or start-to-finish choir on the number.
However long it's been, it's refreshing to listen to. Just think - back in the day, we were spoiled by having Cindy on Wednesdays, too. And that was before the uber-ensembles that we have on stage nowadays. So consider this a revisit of "Throwback Sunday." Here, Cindy's singing "Alabaster Box." I believe the more popular commercial version of this song is performed by CeCe Winans in case any of you are motivated enough to go buy that version. I left on a bit at the end where Joel comments on his own singing ability (to which I can relate too well).
Anyways, take it away, Cindy ...
UPDATE: By request, the Saturday version, with a bit of Larry Ratajcak flourish on piano.

awesome! thank you as always for sharing that.
Cindy is awesome! Gives me goosebumps hearing her sing that song.
I can't wait for her to have her own cd out!
I can't wait for the night of worship on the 17th!
Thank you so much for posting this Greg!
I only caught the tail end Saturday. Cindy is amazing.
Just curious, why does she not do Wednesdays anymore? Is she still out in the audience?
Thanks! Have a fantastic week!
I did love it, but how do I hear Sat evening's instead?? Larry did some stuff then that he didn't do on Sun morning...just wondering.
Good point ... I'll put together the Saturday version tomorrow for a comparison.
No idea, but I've got to imagine that doing four services (plus rehearsals, etc ...) a week can take a toll.
May I just add my 2 cents. Michael Hodge and Joel Camey were simply BRILLIANT at the 8:30 a.m. service. I don't know what they had for breakfast (Burger King's Cheesy Tots, perhaps?), but they were BRILLIANT. Oh yeah, the other guys weren't bad either.
Yes, Cindy and her husband are in the audience on Wednesdays -front row from what I've noticed.... They are also Prayer Partners during that time.
Cindy is truly awesome...soem people can sing and some people can sang...Cindy is one of those who can sang! LOL! She has a great voice but more importantly, she is truly anointed! Thanks as always for sharing, Greg!
I stumbled upon this site and want to see Cindy's performance but all I get is a grey box...please assist...:-)
Yeah, it looks like a temporary glitch with the video site as they make a few tweaks. Should be back up soon (ie - matter of minutes).
Cindy has her own website where you can view many of her videos as well as send her a personal email! Don't be surprised if she writes you back! www.cindyratcliff.com I understand she has a cd coming out very soon too!
