Free to Worship

$5 at the bookstore through the end of the month. That's practically giving it away. Online, it's a $10 pickup, but Wal Mart will have it packaged with DVD this week for under $10. Saw a Marcos Witt CD/DVD combo in the bookstore that was packaged the same way Wal Mart is going to put out this project. Is that a clue that there's some Wal Mart distribution of Marcos' work? ... or just a clue that the same packaging folks were used? Anyone out there been through a Wal Mart in Mexico City, by chance?

Seriously, though ... I got to spin the disc during the end of Koinonia. Great pick-me-up at the end of a very long day. MP3s now ripped, loaded at the office, loaded on the portable. Ready for action.

First reaction: I was actually sorta dreading this release. The live performance was incredible and watching the video footage of it, I thought a recording of it might seem a bit flat by comparison. Especially after all the overdubs and mixing. Maybe it's that I have so many views of the live service ingrained in my memory ... but there's not one disappointment the CD that I've found yet.

Oh ... one smaller item of interest here. Six violins, two violas, and two cellos are credits on the CD. Didn't see them on the stage, did you? I was insanely blessed to take a quick tour of the 5th floor studio as part of the Creative Arts thingy and get a sample of the sort of things they can do up there. I'm tellin' ya ... it's probably not a coincidence that it's the one place in Lakewood that's closest to heaven. More on that as I work on some lunch and regain a bit of energy to tap out a few thoughts on the whole day.

Yeah, it'll look like this when it's out at Wal Mart. The DVD will be 2 Joel sermons and 1 Victoria sermon. I'd expect it to be displayed somewhere near the book. I might have to make a visit out there to pick up a set and just to see how they've got it displayed.

I think Joel mentioned the night of the worship concert that he thought it would be Book+CD packaging. But it might just've been a late decision to package it as CD+sermon with book sold separately.

I picked up the book and CD/DVD special edition at Wal-Mart. At the store I went to the book was in the books section, but the CD was in the music department. It is oversized and can't fit in the regular CD rack -- it was in a display on top of the rack.

I was very glad that Pastor Joel's blessing/prayer segment was left in. The post-production, and the speed with which it was done, was top notch. Really a nice job of combining the live ambience and studio polish.

I went to Walmart yesterday and checked today and they still don't have the CD :(.
At one Walmart they didn't even have Joel's book and during my stop today, they said they were supposed to have 5 CDs in stock, but they didn't have them out.
