Re-Reading Luke (x2)

Two books of interest after scouring the bookstore for something to put on the post-summer radar. The Clinton Arnold study guide looks like a particularly well-done study. Naturally, there's several different books for either individual or similar books of the Bible. The books are done almost like a textbook, complete with a lot of the things I tend to like: namely, maps & photos. It looks like the books do a great job of dropping you right into the context of each book. And since I'm fond of this book of the Gospel, it was great to see something that shines a new light or two on it.

The McLaren/Seay book is the second effort by these authors to show a book from the Bible in a new light as well. In this case, however, Luke is treated in something close to a screenplay format with a new translation to go along with it. I'm all over this one as soon as the summer reading list is knocked out.
