A couple of new things to report on ... and both apparently prior to the official release of said "things."
I picked up the new Everlife CD over the weekend. It's a three-sister band with some catchy tunes that definitely appeal to the younger person running my internal rock show. Great harmonies, decent musicianship, but just plain fun to listen to. There's some cover tunes on there to familiarize any oldtimer with the newer sounding music. Namely, the band does a cover of "Real Wild Child" that was originally on the soundtrack for Disney's "The Wild." Easily the best number on there for my taste.
Another nifty find at the bookstore over the weekend was Rob Bell's new book, Sex God. Definitely a provocative title, as is Bell's style. You can check out the first chapter from the book/tour's website. I'll be waiting to see if Bell hits Houston again on his tour. The early dates look to be bigger venues than he originally stopped at, but I doubt I'd mind seeing him preach from a nightclub, which is what he did on most of that last tour. Bell's previous book, Velvet Elvis, is now out in paperback also. It's high on my list of books to get my hands on.
The official release for the Everlife CD is tomorrow. Amazon is showing Bell's latest book to be released in March. Of course, at the Lakewood bookstore, you can get them both today.
