One other nice find at the front of the bookstore this past week: discounts on VHS and cassette tapes of Joel's sermon series. What kind of discount, you ask? Try $2 each. Since they were advertised as 5 for $10, I took the bait and just picked five that seemed to pique my interest.
"Renewed Hope," I've previously noted as the first series released with material from the new location. Those sermons literally pick up right after the Grand Opening. "Wise Choices" is a $40 set going for all of $2. There's couple of the bigger sets in there that ought to make any choice wise on which one to get. Many of the others are from much much earlier in Joel's era as pastor. I brought along "Strengthened in Adversity" to the office with me since I had the whole place to myself for a few days. Joel's voice is noticably faster and more enthusiastic compared to the more professional pace he's developed. Slightly odd listening to it after being paced to his current tempo over the last year and a half. Now if I can just find a cheap solution that converts the tapes to MP3s ;-)
The price drop (assuming it's still in effect) is a good excuse to pick up some of the older series if you've not otherwise taken the opportunity. And if that's not what you're looking for, there's still time to get "The Gift" at a nice price: $5. I also notice that they've finally added Carrie Hodge's "Never Forget" and Heath Rosborough's "Clarity in Heaven" to the website. Kudos to the new web guru running the show there now!
