OK, so maybe more like a working vacation. Perhaps I've missed these details earlier, but noticed for the first time tonight was that Joel will be doing events in England and Ireland in July. There's also a date in Toronto afterwards. I can't locate the dates online, but it looks like there's a series of dates that indicates Joel's not doing his usual fly-in/fly-out routine that he does for most of the Friday events nationwide. This is a roadtrip.
It will be interesting to see what type of reaction Joel gets in the UK and Toronto. But it also raises the question of what happens at Lakewood that month. I recall reading in Richard Young's book that upon being named senior pastor, Joel announced a series of big name national pastors that would be visiting Lakewood to "guest pastor." Will we go that route for a while? Will Marcos be left in charge for a month? Do we get a few of the other Lakewood pastors to make their presence known? I'd be all in favor of putting Wendell Burton on the big stage for a weekend.
Regardless of the plan, it looks like an interesting month for both us and the touring Osteen entourage. It'd be nice to think that the media coverage of the European travelling would be covered nicely. And we might get a few pleasant surprises here and there. But just to be on the safe side, I hope someone does a nice travelogue of the entire journey. It sure would be a great insight to how the whole thing goes.
