Thoughts on Thirty-nine

Pardon this very non-musical interlude, but since I happened to wake up to find that today is a birthday of sorts, I thought I'd just commit a bit of Eldredge to memory here.

Wild At Heart (pg 199-200)

As the poet George Chapman has said,

Give me a spirit that on this life's rough sea
Loves to have his sails fill'd with a lusty wind
Even till his sail-yards tremble, his masts crack,
And his rapt ship runs on her side so low
That she drinks water, and her keel ploughs air

Life is not a problem to be solved, it is an adventure to be lived. That's the nature of it and has been since the beginning when God set the dangerous stage for this high-stakes drama and called the whole wild enterprise good. He rigged the world in such a way that it only works when we embrace risk as the theme of our lives, which is to say, only when we live by faith. A man just won't be happy until he's got adventure in his work, in his love and in his spiritual life.

The newest Eldredge book has already been procured as a birthday present to myself. I still need some good music, though. Lacking any better alternatives, I'm inclined to choose between the punk rock offerings of Stellar Kart or the more commercial rock stylings of House of Heroes. Alternate recommendations are still welcome.
