Monday Video: Aimee Beard - "Call on Jesus"

I'd intended to pull some video of the choir doing a number for this week's episode of Video Monday. But the last remaining time constraints at the day job mean that I'm pulling from the vault on hand. This song is pretty much Aimee Beard at her finest.

This one's from Joel's sermon #317: "Living At Your Ideal Weight." Give it another spin if the spirit so moves you. Loads more where this came from. Aimee's most recent performance is on the current message (#324 - Let God Be God in Your Life).

Also, Jemine Leigh performed over the weekend. I was pretty overscheduled to make it this weekend, but that did allow me to record two webcasts for the raw video of Jemine. Hopefully her song makes the broadcast in two weeks so there's a perfect edit of it available. Sound quality is a bit better from the webcast than raw video anways.

That means the personal video collection now has a quality entry by almost all of the top talent on display at Lakewood. As always, I enjoy cutting up some video to show off these performances and hopefully it generates a little interest in watching another sermon and maybe something will sink in differently than it did from an earlier viewing.

Another note to pass on - or revive from the comments, actually. We've got replacements for Dakri as Choir Director. This from the unofficial choir website, run by Dell Mara Lovell ...

Michael & Fiona Mellett have accepted the call to be the new Choir Directors of the Lakewood Church Choir. They will be traveling back and forth from Nashville to Houston for the next few weeks before arriving in Houston on a permanent basis in November. Please keep Michael & Fiona and their children in your prayers during this transition period.

Michael & Fiona have some excellent credentials they bring to Lakewood, so it looks like the talent level only gets higher and higher as we keep adding. Dakri will definitely be missed, also. I owe him an immense credit for getting me interested in Chris Tomlin due to his great version of Chris' songs. Everyone at Lakewood seemed to enjoy the spirit he brought to the stage, whether he was leading with Cindy, singing amongst the ensemble, or just conducting the choir in his own particular way (as in the video herein).

Fiona Mellett sang the offering solo tonight after Dr. Paul's intro and w/ Pastor Marcos Witt delivering the message while PastorJoel and Victoria are in LA. She was OFF THE CHART! What a blessing she is to us all. Now all I want is a Fiona Mellett CD. And another (many many more?) solo

Do you have a link to Dell Mara Lovell's 'unofficial Lakewood Church Choir's website' that you could share with me (us?)? Thanks! And thanks very much for your very interesting, helpful, obviously insightfully informed, sometimes funny and always deeply caring blog!

That site seems to have gone away some time ago. Unfortunate, but I'm sure there'll be a few other Lakewood-based websites and blogs popping up over time (in addition to this one and Dominique's www.1800gospel.com)

Thanks Greg. I just asked about Dell Mara's website as we (especially my wife Kathleen) is VERY interesting in all things having to do with Lakewood's Choir and after we were blown away by Fiona's 'knock it out of the park' solo this past weekend - and found out from your wonderful website that she and her husband were taking over choir responsibility - it made us (especially her) want to be all the more plugged in to that powerful group. Thanks as always for your blog and for your great information and love.
